The first week of my 'challenge' included a day trip to the coast and three other dinners out. I made pretty good food choices but still struggle with getting exercise outside of my workouts. It's a mindset I need to alter. I wake up in the morning ready to start the day, ready to get things done so I can do the things that I want to do.... I sort of equate this to 'finishing my dinner before having dessert'. Unfortunately, I often run out of time or energy before dessert! Like so much else in life, it's a decision, I know....I just haven't let go of the things I 'have to do' to make time for exercise, compounded by my still-sore foot and my bike that needs a tune-up. I HAVE to get the stuff boxed up that needs to be moved. I HAVE to make a place for the stuff from my dad's. I HAVE to finish cleaning my classroom. Blah, blah, blah. This week I will get my bike that tune-up....one foot in front of the other :-)

In ten days, it will be my 3-year anniversary with NorCal Strength and Conditioning, which marks not only a change in lifestyle, but a change in thinking, acting, and being. The change in focus has been more than healthy; it has been life-saving (see my abandoned blog--too busy--It's All Good . . . ) but now it's time for a new challenge!
I will be 60 in four months! I know, it astonishes me, too. The last time I looked, I was in my twenties, well, maybe thirties . . . but here I am, with all that accompanies aging. At least, I am here with what I have ASSUMED accompanies aging. So, my new challenge is to test out my assumptions and in four months, get to the very best physical shape I can be in for my 60th birthday . . . a present to myself and with your help, Justin!
Okay, Justin...I've set up this blog for conversation between the two of us. I've been told that the last three years have provided 'inspiration' for some, so maybe this journey will, too, to anyone 'listening in'. If you're willing, let's see if it's an efficient way to log my exercise, food, and sleep, and if it works for you to give feedback . . .
